Jay Mohr Sports / Puttin' his name on it
« on: March 28, 2017, 11:46:46 pm »
The recent Jay podcast is a real soul-opener, and good for him.  In a life like Jay's, when you have a lot of irons in the fire, there's more ways to get burned.  But, I don't even care what specifics lead to it, as long as he stops down now, and takes care of it.  And he will.  He has a good support system of people that love him.  I, like many, got great laughs from JMS everyday, BUT, he needs inner peace more than I need a few giggles.  Things will straighten out in time.  If he still reads here....love ya Jay.

I like them both.  Dan's mild mannered "Mr. Milktoast" persona contrasts Knox's "hungover guy, two years out of college" attitude.  I think that Fox Sports Radio, like NBC Sports Radio, lets the time slot just go "as is," because they both know that Rome is winning that radio day-part anyway.  Chances are, Beyer and Knox stays for a while longer.

I'll never listen again. Jays positivity inclusiveness and humor made for such a unique sports talk experience. Dan is great, but Knox is a dime a dozen shouty hack. I hope this is what Jay wants, because if it's a FOX decision, it's a bad one.

Jay's one of a kind.  He made ME follow sports.  I'd like to see Dan and Jonas stick together somewhere on FSR, maybe overnights.  Move Steve Gorman, JT and Ben Maller up a shift and put Dan and Jonas on overnights to see how it goes.

I think a lot of stuff, originally, has to be Fox's doing, especially the shift change in 2014.  On  national level, I don't know how the show rated, but I didn't care.  Anyway, Jay's got stuff in his life to straighten up, that's the most important thing.  In time, he'll come up with something great again....if he's allowed.

He should do a once-a-month JMS podcast from his garage with Dan, Ramos and Toohey.  A straight half hour "Rapid Fire."

Jay Mohr Sports / JMS podcasts
« on: February 07, 2017, 10:58:50 pm »
I see that the Fox Sports Radio website has taken down the backlog of almost all of their shows.  Up until Sunday night, I was able to go back a year for old JMS downloads.  They seem to be gone.  Weird question - does any body else have them posted somewhere??

Thank you very indeed!!

Steve in HTown - Since you're here, on the show, did they ever issue any official word on why Jonas wasn't producer anymore?  All I remember is that they were at somebody's NFL camp late last Summer, and, to my ear, by a certain point, it sounded like Jonas was drunk or high.  I have to go check the Fox podcasts before they take them all down, but I clearly remember he was laughing so hard, they cut his mic, went to a break, and afterwards, Jay made a remark about he didn't know where Knox went.

Does this ring a bell?  Kinda weird.

Even though I know JMS proper is gone from Fox radio, I for one, feel like there's still topics to discuss about Jay, the old show and even sports (if we have to).  I suggest this as a sign of support for Jay and all that he shared with us over the course of four years.  Not many celebrities would be so willing to entertain in so many forms of media.  Not to mention all the good will he promoted, the hat trick club winners and his willingness to talk about anxiety disorder and to expose the scandals of modern athletics.  I remember the times he had his mother on the show, and the Pastor from his church.  Who else does that??

:-\  Well..........this stinks.  I got addicted to this show, even after they pulled it off my local station.  I guess I always knew that it would get to be too much for his schedule.  He's not fat and gray yet, and he can still pull down movie and TV roles, as well as stand up comedy.  In fact, having the radio show probably was the reason his comedy touring didn't cover a wider area of the country.  Plus, it's evident his family life was getting a bit fragile over the last few months, it's better that he gets a handle on that now.  I'll truly miss the elements of the show, and the sound drops, OMG!!  There were so many, and it makes me sad that I won't be able to hear those again, at least now with JMS to surround them.  I do wish good luck to Dan, John and Jonas getting the gig, but I doubt that's going to happen.  Amidst conflicting emotions, I do wish them all the best on Fox.  So, I guess I'll grab my sister's ass and snuggle off to bed now with my cat Mr. Bonkers.

If this is true, I'm glad that Rich Eisen is gone.  That guy is cancer.  But, FSR would have only put him there because they felt Jay wasn't pulling enough people away from Rome's show on CBS.  The real shame is, all the comedic "bits" that Jay's show offered, many of them slowly disappearing over the last year or so.  I like Jonas Knox, but something changed when he joined up.  Much of the "funny" went away, to be replaced by comedic cynicism.   And, that's okay, but it's not like it was.  And then, with Jonas' sudden removal in August, it left many questions to be answered.  Aaron seems like a great guy, but he was kinda a "non entity" co-host.

I don't know what happened to the two alleged Jay Mohr Sports soundboard sites, but they aren't there now.   :(

I guess I didn’t realize that the second announcement of Jay’s divorce came on December 14th last year.  That stinks.

As a fan of Jay’s, I get concerned with his well being.  I listened to Jay’s guest appearance on Kevin Pollak’s “Chat Show,” and Jay sounded way more tangential than usual, and openly complained of not having any sleep.  That interview is dated December 6th.

Another thing that I noticed was that Ben Maller (also on Fox Sports Radio) posted recently; “Excited to pass on the news of my new contract with Premiere Networks to continue the Ben Maller Show on Fox Sports Radio.”  This was on Facebook, and the posting ended; “Looking forward to making the show even better in 2017 and beyond!”  Maller’s post was dated Wednesday, January 11th.

I don’t know if everyone’s contract was up for renewal of late or not.  But it does make me wonder of Jay’s return to radio.  The last time I remember an extended vacation was when Fox didn’t renew shows like “Petrose And Money” (nationally) and “Fox Sports Tonight with Rob Dibble and Amy Van Dyken.”  Wikipedia even states that “Into The Night with Tony Bruno” ended in 2011 because “his contract was not renewed.”

During Jay’s time off, I’ve noticed that the BKR crew has not said “Jay will return on…”  Hopefully, I’m over thinking it and Jay will return.

I'm gonna sound stupid, but the "Sometimes you ween, sometimes you no ween" drop always sounded like Jay to begin with.  A few weeks ago, he gave a person's name that it belonged to.  Who is that, if it ain't Jay?

Jay Mohr Sports / JMS - More intense than ever
« on: October 09, 2016, 01:49:43 am »
I have gotta say, since the start of football season, I have never known Jay Mohr Sports to be more strong and intense.  Jay's bringing A-game, and so is the "cast."  It seems as though the crew at all of Fox Sports Radio is being spread a little thin right now, and most of the staffers are working several shifts and several shows.  But man, nothing can beat the first half hour of Jay's show now (well, you know, the rest is good too).  Jay's bringing up a pretty unique perspective on the hot sports topics, and that's hard to do since sports is grabbing the major news headlines anyway.  My hat's off to 'em.....wait....am I wearing a hat?
