Jay Mohr Sports / Re: Watching Syracuse vs Indiana....
« on: March 30, 2013, 04:34:24 pm »
You aren't from Indiana, I assume. He is getting killed here for the loss. I don't put it all on him,  but that 2-3 zone is not like some new fad that befuddles everyone. IU had trouble all year with physical teams. Lost twice to Wisconsin, who plays slow, grind it out ball. Almost lost to Temple, who slowed it down and got ugly. This years team thrived on playing fast and transition ball. Zeller never really lived up to the hype, had a solid season but shrunk from more physical big men. See the Minnesota loss, and Syracuse. He has no mid range shot. That is on the staff, to help him develop one. Every time he went into the paint the other night he got murdered, but they weren't calling it. And when they aren't, a 7 footer needs to be able to hit a mid range shot. All in all, Syracuse was a terrible matchup for an IU team with two smurfs for guards. And they hit 50% from the field. That is hard to beat. But the Cuse lost nine times this year, so it's not like they were unstoppable. Crean deserves PART of the blame. Had Indiana drawn the overall #1 seed they would be playing Duke in the Elite Eight tomorrow.

another one...

"NO no no no no no no no no!!" It's said 9x really fast, by a guy with what seems to be a foreign (can't place it) accent)  No idea on that one.

Bc he is 102 years old and looks like he might die at any moment on the bench

IU fan and Indiana native here, that was a pathetic performance. Zeller's draft stock just plummeted. He in not ready for the NBA. Crean out coached again....turrible

HAHAHAHAHA! Jews being put into camps and then put into gas chambers until six million were dead. I dont know how I missed that one. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL :'(

What about the scene in Funny People (very underrated film IMO) where Sandler is talking to a woman and she mentions she is on J Date. Since he is Jewish I guess he gets an exemption...apologies for the terrible YouTube clip

Decendants. Correct. "Your head's not right Matty" and "DON!" and "Good guy Don, do right by us" are all from the descendants. (should have won best picture and best actor by the way. That f*cking Silent movie shit won that year. ) bullshit. Clooney was other level.

I saw that film..definitely a good one. I can't believe I didn't recognize the drops from it. And yeah, The Artist wining the Oscar was BS. Silent film no one saw, should have not even been in the Best Picture category, bc while shot in LA, it was pretty much a foreign film. Damn you Frenchies!!

Jay Mohr Sports / Sound drop origins....non sports

Just for kicks, let's see if we can name the origins of the sound drops on the show. I am excluding sports drops bc most people know them. if you don't feel free to ask. Obviously some drops are from the show itself so they're excluded too (Brain's "shoot it!" for example)
I know some and don't know others. Feel free to enlighten me.

Hey Matty!-from Tombstone when Ike yells to Wyatt Earp's wife (Madeline)...thanks to JayGray for clearing that one up
"I didn't say that...yes you did, no I didn't, yes you did, I know that"- Martin Short on SNL, don't know when or what character and I have searched the interwebs bc it annoyed me that I didn't know.
Matty died of a drug overdose- no idea, don't think it's from Tombstone though
I do favors for you all the time/you said I was alright Henry- from Goodfellas
He's a good kid- no clue
What's the world comin' to!?!?- I think it's DeNiro but I don't know the film
Down at Fraggle Rock- ummm, from Fraggle Rock? Shot in the dark there.
Hong Kong Phooey- theme song from the short-lived cartoon in the 70s- thanks to bignasty826 for that one
Look at the game tape!!!- If you don't know that is Tracy Morgan, wow. It's kind of sports related but he is a comic as well, so I am including it.
I'm an idiot- from a caller who said it and then hung up
You're a dork- can't remember but it may have been a caller from Rapid Fire??
And finally, for me, the intro to Rapid Fire has a guy speaking Spanish REALLY fast- must have missed that one too

Have at it, Mohrriors

Got it, never knew where it came from. Weird how JJ could play it while subbing for Rome, but not on Fox...

Some past ones that were funny in my head at least

"Well jay, if Bucknell gets killed in the first round, I guess you could say the Butler did it." Yeaeaaah!
I reference to baseball players intro songs: when I come out, it will be to anything by Elton John. S/ Manti Te'o (knew it wouldn't get read after he went off about Te'o and the gay thing, oh well)
Chris Culliver references:
I know one endorsement Culliver won't be getting....Ben Gay
"I don't mind that sweet stuff in my locker room." S/ marshawn lynch (his love of skittles, if you have to explain it, well....)

And I thought this one might get a shot...
I didn't leave the pats bc of the money. I was afraid of Mt Vesuvius growing on Bob Kraft's face. S/ Wes Welker

Yeah, comedy is hard

Yeah the show is really starting to take off. The quality of the calls is better, same goes for the Tweets. Rapid fire is still hit or miss but what can you expect? It's a fast segment and callers sometimes yak on air. But it is getting better. Anyone notice JJ doesn't reply "oh, hey buddy" when someone says it to him? He will stop at "oh heyyyy" or similar. What gives on that? Plus that drop is never played. Did Premiere have some sort of rights to it?

71
No shit. Uno, you have an inflated sense of what you mean to this show. Stop pissing about this. Let. It. Go. Today was roll on the floor hilarious with the tweets, "Brain-e-oke" and POB shenanigans. And you had not one damn thing to do with it. Get over it.....

JJ, we love ya man, don't stop coming on here bc one a-hole won't realize he is a TWEETER to a radio show and nothing more. I know my role. Listen, laugh my ass off, tweet stuff that never gets read (understood, I am not that funny) and enjoy the show.

Realize it or GTFO, Uno

Not a favorite, but where does this drop come from? "I didn't say that...yes you did...I know you did...I know that..." Sounds like an old Martin Short bit. I can't find it anywhere on the interwebs

Jay Mohr Sports / Re: is Nikki Cox still writing for the show??
« on: March 18, 2013, 05:49:26 pm »
I think so, he just mentioned her either today or Friday. I could be wrong, but I remember hearing her name when he was referring to his weekend in Vegas. Maybe he feels he doesn't need to mention his wife is a show writer every day....

74
No joke...uno, don't turn this place into Stucknut. Where everyone is an internet warrior who thinks way too highly of their "contributions" to a RADIO SHOW!!! I saw the whole mike in indy thing over there. I can't figure out what was worse: you calling him out, or him acting like he's some celebrity for finishing 2nd twice in the Smackoff. We're fans of a radio show. That's it.

JJ is going to defend his boys, of course. Matty got catfished, sure. But don't act like it wasn't a bit weird that MIKE in Vegas was DM'ing Matty with details about baby showers....that's taking things way too far. Again, it's a RADIO SHOW

75
its ok, greg hasnt called rome in many years anyways.
i dont think rome will ever put greg back on the air.

cool...yeah he won't. and that's part of why I don't listen anymore...Rome went away from what got him to the top 5-6 years ago, and now has completely sold out. why doesn't he just bag the whole show?? JJ has to be stomping his ass in the ratings
